Biography
Kal has worked in the specialism of urology in the northeast of England and London since qualifying as an RN in 2001.
Her career to date has involved learning the breadth of inpatient and outpatient care holding roles including staff nurse, ward manager, advanced nurse practitioner, lead nurse and she currently works as a urology nurse consultant.
Throughout her roles, service improvement, transformation and patient experience has remained her interest and she has enjoyed executing several initiatives to enhance patient care, improve patient experience and staff development along the way.
Kal currently specialises in nurse-led prostate cancer diagnostics with a remit to work locally and nationally to improve services in this space.
Kal is responsible for providing expert clinical practice, education, professional leadership, and service improvement.
Kal’s role encourages me to demonstrate visionary leadership where she can inspire and motivate nursing staff across the department and beyond. She has a responsibility to develop research and educational programmes required for professional development across the workforce.
She enjoys the collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork urology provides to enhance pathways, build capacity, and expand the nurse-led profile to further shape this dynamic speciality.
Joining BAUN as a co-opted trustee is an exciting opportunity and she is enthusiastic and committed to contributing to enhancing the association further. Utilising her vast urology experience and dynamic personality, Kal aims to facilitate and support the futureproofing of urological nursing – something she is incredibly passionate about.
